In the early days of Alabama, it was like the wild west, and one thing that was often explosive was political fever. Many people were vying for positions of governing the State. It was especially controversial between the old Whig and Democratic parties. Political fever was so high that a man would not vote for a personal friend or brother if they had a different political view.
